Young people active citizenship – easier or harder in a little town?

Although we talk a lot about participation and transparency in large cities, there are small towns where citizens can participate more in decision-making.

Bocairent, a town of 4,000 inhabitants in eastern Spain, explains to us how citizen and youth participation works there.

There are multiple participation options for young people from associations, youth councils or even politics.

Why aren’t there more young people in politics? Why don’t young people trust politics?  How can citizens participate in local policies?  How can citizens influence local and regional policies?
