One of the pride of the network of GIOSEF Italy is certainly IL PAGURO OSTELLO (Website: http://www.ilpaguro.eu/) a center of hospitality and youth aggregation located in Casapesenna (Caserta) in an assett confiscated from organized crime. The property was granted to Agrorinasce Scarl, to make it a “Center for the promotion of social commitment and a playroom”. Agrorinasce then made the assignment of the property available through an expression of interest addressed to associations and social cooperatives. The property has been renovated thanks to a funding grant from the Ministry of the Internal Affairs. Inside the center for the promotion of social commitment and playroom we’ve been developing youth programs of intercultural exchange, training courses, active citizenship actions, national and international internships, twinning between cities, conventions and meetings, research and publications, solidarity, cooperation and development actions.
The Paguro Hostel is divided on three floors, two of which have bedrooms and bathrooms / showers. On the main floor we have a common area, with a pool table, table football, an office space for work, a living room with TV and a dining room. Here we spend a lot of time, not only working, but also sharing meals and life experiences with each other. There is also an equipped kitchen. Then another space that we love and where we spend a lot of time, our garden.
This is the place we use to relax, talk, listen to music, enjoy sunbathing, exercise and increase our energy.
Seeing a place, which used to be the home of a criminal, having become so alive, so full of the energy and the enthusiasm of young people is our greatest achievement, as young Casalesi, Italians and Europeans.
Together with the ESC volunteers of Apice – Agenzia di Promozione Integrata per i cittadini in Europa who live in our hostel Il Paguro in the past months, we have organized a serie of training meetings on the subject of legality. At the end of these meetings we decided to create a social campaign to present the knowledge we gain. So we made the campaign both in English and in Turkish, to spread our message to all the people around the world.
