Youth Shaping Climate Policy
The climate crisis is one of the most significant injustices of our time, and young people will have to live with the consequences for the longest period. It’s therefore not surprising that they fear for the future.
This project aims to support the needs of young people to participate in democratic processes and increase their involvement in the development of inclusive and sustainable societies, in line with the goal of engaging citizens and communities in discussions and actions related to climate and the environment.
The YSCP project will promote the participation of representative citizen associations and contribute to the democratic and civic life of the Union by disseminating their opinions in the field of environmental protection in the EU.
The project’s OBJECTIVE is to create a space and encourage young citizens to initiate discussions with decision-makers and be involved in shaping climate policies.
To achieve the main objective of the project, the following OBJECTIVES have been established:
Deepen knowledge about ways to involve young people in the decision-making process and share best practices from participating countries/regions.
Create meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in the creation of national climate policies, using formats suitable for young people.
Implement structured dialogue processes with key local actors in youth decision-making, including young people, youth organizations, youth centers, and decision-makers at local and national levels.
Enable local youth to act ecologically and become ambassadors for an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Spread the idea and results of the project to other NGOs in Europe and the public. Ultimately, this project will help participants deepen their knowledge of EU institutions and policies, better understand the outcomes and benefits of the EU, and strengthen the democratic participation of young people in shaping climate policy in Europe.
